The Pacific Coast Air Museum regularly hosts and participates in family-friendly events and educational programs for all ages. Check the details on each event for times, places, and entry fees. PCAM is a non-profit, so entry fees go to cover the costs of the events and to help PCAM raise money for ongoing operations and expansion.

80 years ago today, a group of 80 men boarded 16 B

80 years ago today, a group of 80 men boarded 16 B-25 Mitchell bombers and launched from the deck of the USS Hornet a mere 800 miles from Japan. Their target was Tokyo. It had only been 4 months since the Japanese had attacked Pearl Harbor, destroying many American ships and killing thousands of American sailors and civilians. Morale was at an all-time low, so a plan was hatched to strike back. Under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle, a surprise bombing run was sprung on the Japanese mainland. Only minimal damage was done, but the psychological effects were felt far and wide. For the first time, Japan was vulnerable to an attack on its home island, and the Americans were given the confidence boost they needed to stay in the fight. Unfortunately, none of these heroes are with us today, but their stories and courage will forever be remembered and honored, for they were the Doolittle Raiders. One of these men was Frank Kappeler, born in San Francisco and later moved to Santa Rosa after retiring from the Air Force. We lost Frank in 2010 at the age of 96. HOT DOG THURSDAY is back for 2022!!! The first one of the year comes at you this Thursday, April 7th! With the cost of everything going up, we've had to raise our prices slightly. It's still the best deal you'll find around Sonoma County! Hot dog or Polish dog, chips, and a drink are now $7. Double dogs are $10. Condiments are free and Ice Cream will be an additional cost. From 11:30am to 1:30pm you can come and enjoy a delicious lunch in the Historic Butler Hangar or under the wing of your favorite aircraft. We even have some visitors showing up for this special occasion including the P-40 Warhawk!! So, grab the whole family and join us for the start of another great Hot Dog Thursday season!!!

Today was a special day. Our newest acquisition, the F/A-18 Hornet, arrived safe and sound at its new home. You might have caught a glimpse of it traveling northbound on Highway 101! It was met with some wonderful Sonoma County love! Thanks to all who welcomed her! We saw the lights and heard the horns! It took a village to get her here and we would like to thank Peterson Tractor, Precision Crane, Airport Operations, Mark Fajardin, Jim Cook, and their team who helped disassemble the aircraft and get it loaded onto the truck, The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum, and so many more!

If you would like to see this aircraft, you will have to wait a little bit longer. Currently, she has been moved to an undisclosed location to be fully assembled and have some cosmetic work done. She will then be brought to PCAM complete with a welcoming ceremony! For now, here's a little teaser!

The boys agree! The Knuckleball is a hit!! Join us at Homerun Pizza this Tuesday, March 15th, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and try these and many other delectable delights! It's their "Giving Tuesday" where all proceeds will be donated to the Pacific Coast Air Museum! We want to introduce as many people as we can to this wonderful establishment, which is celebrating 19 years! So, come on down and say hello! We will have a raffle going on later in the day with a chance to win a ride in a vintage aircraft! See you at Homerun Pizza, the home of the Knuckleball! Located in the Larkfield Shopping center.

On March 15th, from 3pm to 8pm, @homerunpizzalarkfield will be hosting a fundraiser for the Pacific Coast Air Museum as a part of their "Giving Tuesdays" that they do every month for non-profit organizations around Sonoma County as a way to give back to the community. We encourage everyone to stop by and try their amazing food, including great pizzas, sandwiches, breadsticks, and their famous Knuckleball! We will be there with pamphlets, videos playing on the TV, and even a raffle with prizes including a ride in a vintage aircraft! So, bring the friends and family, dine in or order to go, and come help support PCAM and our new friends at @homerunpizzalarkfield ! Located in the Larkfield Shopping Center in Santa Rosa.

During these uncertain times, we have kept ourselves busy. After many months of work and a couple of trial runs we are happy to unveil our newest exhibit, Hangar 2! In this exhibit, you will find a collection of aviation memorabilia and historical photographs that show our own Sonoma County Airport back when it was known as Santa Rosa Army Air Field. Various artifacts and dioramas accompany these rare photos and illustrations along the walls of Hangar 2, all with a story to tell. On top of that, we also have a multimedia station complete with a projector and screen, making it a great place to have our general meetings. If you would like to view this exhibit, it is available through our docent tours. Just come on in and ask to see Hangar 2!

On this day 80 years ago, an attack by over 300 Japanese aircraft left our own Pearl Harbor a smoky, sunken, twisted metal wreck. Over 2,000 people would never see the next day. "A date which will live in infamy" was printed in many newspapers around the country. War was on the horizon. A nation blindsided, beaten down, and grieving would ultimately rise to the challenge put before it. Today we honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and say that we still will never forget.
