Flown West: Edward “Ed” Poe

July 9, 2019

Edward “Ed” Poe enjoyed visiting PCAM with is son George whenever he could. He also participated in PCAM’s lunches and veteran activities. We were always honored by his presence since he was a true gentleman and a member of America’s greatest generation of heroes.

Ed served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. A Higgins Boat pilot, Ed helped land troops during the invasion of Iwo Jima, among other battles. After his military service Ed worked for the California Division of Forestry, as the District Ranger for the Sonoma County Coast. He was considered an expert in wild land firefighting. Ed was 92. Thank you Ed and George for allowing us to share some valuable moments with you.

A FAMILY-FRIENDLY PLACE WITH HISTORY YOU CAN TOUCH!

There’s always something great going on at the Pacific Coast Air Museum. We have Open Cockpit weekends once a month,  special events throughout the year, and regular hot dog lunches. We host school field trips, special group tours, birthday parties, and family get-togethers, all among our collection of historic aircraft and educational exhibits.
