Charley and Bob will talk about the development and testing of the 5th Generation fighter, the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightening II. Clips will be shown from the intimate Nova documentary “Battle of the X-Planes” covering the engineering design meetings, battles and prototype shop’s failures during the design and fly-off between Lockheed’s X-35 and Boeing’s X-32.
Charley will cover the carrier landing and hovering tests and Bob will report from the production line where his nephew works.
Charley Taylor has been a long-time member of PCAM and given talks on his Navy fighter carrier including the job of Arrest Officer. He is Chair of PCAM’s Education Committee and has organized multiple PCAM displays at the North Bay Science Day.
Bob Matreci joined PCAM in 2005 and has been the Air Show Command Post Manager since 2006, keeping the radio system going and serving as a liaison with the first responders. His current project is on the restoration team for the A-26 bomber’s machine gun turret. The missing electronics for the remote control of are being replaced by modern electronics.
