Plane Jane

Our guest speaker for the June 16th Membership Meeting is Robert Fischer, who will speak about his just released book "Plane Jane" - an adventure involving an female US Air Force fighter pilot who refuses to don a Burka while serving in Saudi Arabia and eventually plays a key role in the repossession of a luxury aircraft from a middle eastern county. Bob is a Bay Area native living in Santa Rosa with his family. He has written several works related to military service and aviation. His latest book will be offered for sale at the meeting and he has indicated he will autograph books sold at our meeting. One copy will also be among the raffle prizes for the evening.

United States Air Force fighter pilot, Major Mary Jane, refuses to wear the veil while off base in Saudi Arabia and is quietly discharged from the service. She learns of a luxury aircraft leased to a Saudi Prince who has not made a single payment. The leasing company cannot enter Arabia without a sponsor, but Mary, with her military credentials, can. She signs a contract to repossess the jetliner for $1,500,000, but unknown to her, she’s dealing with conmen only pretending to be a legitimate leasing company. Recognizing Mary from news coverage, they see her as the perfect dupe to fly the aircraft out of Jeddah. Not realizing she is the victim of an ingenious caper, she, along with fellow Air Force pilot Jesus Martinez, plans what they believe to be the “repossession.” Together, Mary and Jesus romp through Paris, Istanbul, Jeddah and San Francisco on a wild, ingenious and perilous journey full of surprising twists. Plane Jane can be placed in that rarest of genres—a truly funny and suspenseful tale featuring a male-female buddy team.

Biography: Robert Fischer was raised in San Francisco and currently resides in Santa Rosa, California as a semi-retired real estate developer. He became a furniture manufacturer after serving in the Korean War, an import-exporter and a restaurant owner with outlets in both Australia and California. Fischer is an entrepreneur, largely self-taught, a dad to five children and is married to his wife Helga for 32 years. The author’s first work is The Return of Private Fischer; a truth-based novel about American Korean War POW’s transported to the Soviet Gulag with the full knowledge of the American government. Its sequel, Kalifornia, and a film script for the Return followed. Plane Jane and its sequel Flight of the Falcon are adventure dramas involving the repossession of luxury aircraft from colorful and often dangerous people. A Pilgrim to Mecca is a tale of one-man´s effort to destroy Islam in revenge for the destruction of his family on September 11th. Unfinished is an unedited autobiography.
