Founded in 1989, the
Pacific Coast Air Museum
is a non-profit organization whose mission is to To Educate and Inspire both young and old about our aviation heritage and space technology, to Preserve historic aircraft and artifacts, and to Honor veterans.

"One seldom finds such a collection of user-friendly aircraft amidst congenial hosts and lovely wine-country weather. Learn about the vast array of educational programs, scout activities and the opportunities for birthday parties and other gatherings. Bring your family - bring the kids from school - bring the scout troop. ...you´ll find it hard to leave."

TOPGUN Weekend
April 18-19, 2015
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Topgun Weekend: F-14, F-16, F-5

"Climb Aboard" these vintage aircraft, and learn about their history from the crews who have lovingly restored them.

This month we are featuring three aircraft types used by the U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School, or TOPGUN: the F-14 Tomcat, F-16 Viper, and F-5 Tiger. The F-14 was the Navy's premier fighter aircraft from 1974 until 2006. This particular F-14 never served at the TOPGUN school, though many F-14s just like it did. This F-16 and F-5 were actually used by the TOPGUN school, though they were not designed as naval aircraft. They were flown as enemy "aggressor" airplanes because their performance closely matched the performance of the enemy planes our Navy pilots were likely to encounter. Pilots in F-14s would square off against experienced pilots in the aggressor planes, until the good guys in the F-14s learned how to beat them.

These aircraft are on loan from the National Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola, Florida.
