Founded in 1989, the
Pacific Coast Air Museum
is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the acquisition, restoration, safe operation and display of historic aircraft, preserving aviation history, and providing an educational venue for students and the community.

We also honor those heroic aviators who have contributed so much to the growth and defense of our way of life.

"I hope my neighbors - not only in Sonoma County, but from across the USA - will come visit the Pacific Coast Air Museum. We have a unique collection of warbirds, spyplanes and other aircraft - all beautifully maintained and preserved by a dedicated crew of retired Air Force mechanics, airline pilots and museum volunteers. Every visitor loves the Pacific Coast Air Museum; you´ll find it hard to leave."
Tom Reed
Secretary of the Air Force
1976-77

WANTED!

Are you a social person? Do you enjoy: Travel? Bringing a smile to a child’s face? Learning about history first hand? Being a part of history in the making?

If you answered yes to at least two of the questions, this is for you! The Gift Shop is at it again…we’re looking for volunteers that would like to help out.

We recently lost several of our dedicated, long-time weekend Gift Shop docents, and are looking for “new blood” to replace them.

A lot of you have the idea that helping in the “Gift Shop” is not as exciting and fun as helping out in other areas of the museum…i.e. aircraft crew (not picking on you Ron), however it can be just as exciting and fun, if not more at times.

The docents in the Gift Shop are the first and the last people our visitors see when visiting our museum. When a visitor comes in the door, a lot of them are there for personal reasons…i.e., dad or grandfather flew or worked on one of the planes, or better yet, they flew one of the planes themselves! They usually have a story to tell…just ask.

You would be amazed at some of the stories they have to tell. I, myself, met a gentleman that served on 6 aircraft carriers, 4 of which sunk, and one was involved in the search for Amelia Earhart!!! I will NEVER forget that one. I still get goosebumps when I think about it. Imagine, to be talking with a man that was actually out flying, looking for Amelia!!!

Don’t worry if you have no retail experience. Tom or I will train you. It’s really pretty easy. ☺

If you can give one or two weekend days a month, please contact me,
Robin @ 707-703-0696, or Tom Chauncy @ 707-542-3529.

All New Museum Volunteer Program

Changes are coming to the Volunteer Dept. of the Pacific Coast Air Museum. Phyllis Morton has been named Volunteer Coordinator and will be actively seeking and recruiting new volunteers as well as working with current volunteers. The museum needs help with retail sales in our exciting Gift Shop; Education Dept staffing, office help in our challenging Admin Office; people to restore and maintain our beautiful fleet of airplanes; docents to show off our exhibits and planes; helpers with special events like Hot Dog Thursday, Open Cockpit Days, birthday parties, etc. as well as many other areas of interest.

In return, we will show you our appreciation in some new ways and make your time here happy and rewarding. We will try to create shift times and dates that work for your schedule. Look for a monthly volunteer newsletter filled with chat about what we are doing and a monthly contest with a prize. We are hoping to create an annual event (party) just to honor our volunteers with prizes, awards and our praise and gratitude.

To volunteer or to offer any comments or questions, contact Phyllis Morton at the museum on Thursday or at home, 538-5303 or by e-mail at nannyphyl@comcast.net. "My door is open, my phone line is waiting and I check e-mail very, very frequently"
