The Pacific Coast Air Museum Announces Air Show 2006,
The 17th Annual Air Show to be Held at the Charles M. Schultz
Sonoma County Airport
(Santa Rosa, CA,
March 24, 2006) -- The PACIFIC COAST AIR MUSEUM (PCAM) announces Air
Show 2006 “Wings Over Wine Country” to be held August 19-20, 2006. This
year’s show will feature military jet demonstrations, precision
aerobatic flying, vintage warbirds, static aircraft displays, aviation
memorabilia and more. The air show will be held at the Charles M.
Schultz Sonoma County Airport located in Santa Rosa, CA. Gates will be
open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Air Force and
Navy will provide military jet demonstrations. Navy Strike Fighter
Squadron 125 (VFA-125) from NAS Lemoore, CA will demonstrate the
capabilities of the F/A-18 Hornet. The 9th Reconnaissance
Wing from Beale AFB is scheduled for a U-2 Dragon Lady flyby. Also
scheduled is a USAF military jet demonstration.
World-class
aerobatic pilots participating in the program include Eddie Andreini
performing low altitude maneuvers in his Super Stearman biplane
including a wing walking routine and Bill Stein performing “outrageous
maneuvers” in his Zivko Edge 540. Kent Pietsch will perform a comedy
routine in his 1942 Interstate Cadet.
Other highlights
include the many WWII fighter planes that come to the show including
P-51 Mustangs, a B-25 Mitchell and other notable aircraft. These
aircraft provide nostalgic high speed passes and one will participate in
a “Heritage Flight” to honor those who served in the United States Armed
Forces.
PCAM will have a
ceremony to honor Art Vance who was lost last October in the crash of a
Grumman Hellcat. Art was a strong presence in the warbird community and
was a key contributor to the air museum.
All of the
airplanes from the PCAM collection will be open for guests of all ages
to climb aboard. Airplanes which will be open include the F-106 Delta
Dart, the F-4 Phantom, the F-14A Tomcat, and the F-16N Viper and many
more.
