SMSgt Larry Rengstorf,
C-118 Liftmaster Crew Chief (Cont'd)
His affiliations include the Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA), Non-Commissioned Officers Association (NCOA), Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Experimental Aircraft Association
(EAA), and a member of numerous clubs and museums, along with the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum
as a volunteer at the Garber Facility. Larry’s hobbies include a group of 1964 Pontiac GTO’s and heavy involvement in WW II airplanes, in addition to thirty years as a crew chief in Unlimited Air Racing, working on Lloyd Hamilton's Hawker Sea Fury- Australian marked stock MK 11 and the Super Sea Fury, powered by a Pratt-Whitney R-4360 Engine with many other race modifications
- called Furias. Larry is also highly active in the Pacific Coast Air Museum, as a volunteer, being the ground support equipment manager, Aircraft recovery chief, and on the Board of Directors. Larry is a Commercial pilot with a multi-engine rating, and is a collector of Globe Swift parts and hopes to have one flying one of these years.
SMSgt Rengstorf, in his civilian capacity was employed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an Airways Facilities Technician at Sonoma County Airport, Santa Rosa, CA for 15 years and retired in 1989.
He was married to the former Pauline Reil of Newburgh, NY (Deceased) and have four children, John - who recently retired from the USAF, Ernest, Diane and Arthur (deceased). He has lived in the town of Windsor, California for the last 30 years, on the Experimental Aircraft Assoc Chapter 124 site on the west side of the airport, where he is the Facilities Chairman and also on the Board of Directors.
