Based on a
design of the 1950s British Aerospace Strikemaster, it
was derived from the Hunting Jet Provost, which in turn
was a radical development of the Percival Provost
piston-engined aircraft. Originally
used as a trainer, it was also developed into a light
strike aircraft called the BAC 145. Later, the
relatively more sophisticated BAC 167 was
developed. First flown on 26 October 1967, a total
of 146 were sold. Strikemasters
have been used by numerous countries and air forces. Our
Strikemaster was donated to PCAM as a fully restored and
flyable aircraft and we hope to keep it in this
condition. As details about it's history are
discovered, we will update our site.
