Just Can't Wait
Despite the fact that the
SR-71 rudder weighs 978 pounds, not including the
shipping container, our intrepid Recovery Crew leaned
the crate against the ANS crate and soon the lid of the
crate was popped off. There was a lot of talk about
what tail number or artwork we would find on the
rudder. To our amazement, not only was there none, but
it apparently is a brand new, never used SR-71 rudder,
the last one in existence! Our former SR-71 pilot and
Wing Commander Dave Pinsky was like a kid on Christmas
morning, and just couldn't wait to cut the plastic off
and take a look at the treasure!
