SR-71 Recovery Crew
Jim Cook, Dave Pinsky, Larry
Rengstorf, Bill Greene and Ron Stout made the 1,000 mile round
trip from Santa Rosa to Barstow, in one bumpy 22 foot Penske
truck and two borrowed pickup trucks and trailers. They also led
the unloading and uncrating of the SR-71 parts back at the
Pacific Coast Air Museum. They sure turned some heads when the
caravan pulled into famous Mojave Airport for lunch with the
SR-71 nose you see on the trailer in tow, and folks popped out
from everywhere to take a look.
