Manufactured:  8-3-59 at the Piper facility in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.

Inspected and signed off by J.W. McNary, Asst. Chief Engineer, Piper Aircraft Corporation, DMCR 1-1

2954Z spent most of its life in Pennsylvania. I purchased the plane and relocated it to Northern California in late 1999.  Previous owners, as best as I can determine from the paperwork are:

PREVIOUS TITLE OWNERS DATE PURCHASED LOCATION
Cleon Watts  12/5/96 Jersey Shore, PA
Thomas Zavalydriga  3/9/76 Montoursville, PA
Thomas Hinaman 3/4/67 Pottstown, PA
*Kutztown Aviation Service, Inc 11/17/66 Kutztown, PA
Paul Stefanik, Inc. 6/14/66 Wayne, PA
Home State Aerial Farm Survey, Inc. 4/22/66 Nescopeck, PA
*Henry Weber Aircraft Dist., Inc. 4/22/66 Lititz, PA
Robert S. Lapp 4/15/65 Bird in Hand, PA
*Sun-Air Inc. 1/15/65 Selinsgrove, PA
*Albert H. Cresswell, DBA Lewisburg Wings, Inc 9/11/64 Lewisburg, PA
Keller Marine Service 9/11/64 Port Trevorton, PA
Norman Weiss 3/22/62 Kingston, Pennsylvania
*Scranton Airways 9/11/61 Clarks Summit, PA
Scranton Tobacco Co., Inc. 8/19/59 Scranton, PA
*Scranton Airways 8/10/59 Clarks Summit, PA
Piper Aircraft Company 8/10/59 Lock Haven, PA

*Due to the short transfer time, I believe these organizations were dealers.  I know that Scranton Airways is the original Piper dealer that sold 54Z originally to the Scranton Tobacco Co.  The CD records from the FAA included the transfer document from Piper to Scranton Airways that indicated a fee of $1.00.  What a deal!

Major events in the life of 54Z include having the engine replaced with a Lycoming Factory Remanufactured engine in August of 1967.  In 1970, a major overhaul of the airframe was completed including an overhauled propeller.  Most recently, the previous owner performed a frame up restoration which was completed in 1998.
