Broussard Model MH 1521

Built by Max Holste Avions in France

This aircraft type was manufactured in France from 1952 up to 1961 when it ended production. There were only 383 of this type built of which there are 14 currently in the United States. This was the first one to arrive in California of which there are now three. The others are located in Petaluma, CA.

The MH 1521 is a multi-purpose aircraft designed for various purposes such as an air ambulance, photo reconnaissance, radio command post, light cargo, trainer, crop dusting and liaison. It also has features which will accept a grenade rack and a 30 caliber machine gun.

This particular aircraft actually saw combat experience in the "War of Independence" in Algeria during the 1960's where it was based at Telergma with the 3/45 Squadron. After this it was returned to France
and was based at a town named Aix and used as an instrument trainer with the "Escadrille Liaison Ariennes" squadron 44 as noted by the squadron emblem on the port side of the cockpit. The Broussard is based at the Sonoma County Airport.
